Earlier when I got introduced to Drupal, I wanted to create multiple websites under a single Drupal installation. It was a very tedious task to develop different websites for each and every topic and reinstall the necessary modules and themes for every new installation. It was a huge time-consuming task and each new website took up unnecessary additional server space.
Luckily I came across a module called Domain Access with which I was able to create different smaller sites under single installation. This module would be the best option for all those who want to create multiple sites based on various languages and maintain all those multiple sites under single Drupal installation.
Another best possible use of Domain Access module would be to manage or run multiple affiliate sites belonging to various categories or niches. With the help of Domain Access module you have an option of setting up blogs and menu systems, separately for each and every site under the main installation. The best part of Domain Access would be that you can post the content directly to the corresponding affiliate site from the main parent site. Each affiliate site can also have a separate login system and if required one can add more functionalities to the required site without affecting other affiliate sites.
You can also map a separate domain or sub-domain to these affiliate sites. How ever setting up the Domain Access module for the first time would be a bit challenging task for all those who are new to Drupal.
