Generic Content Management Systems

General purpose Content Management systems are usually used to develop dynamic corporate websites. Users will be able to publish their own content, edit the content, allow multiple users to manage content, create any number of pages, add images, videos and so on. If you want to develop sites such as magazine websites or community websites, a generic content management system would be an apt choice.

There are various general purpose content management systems like Drupal, Joomla, plone, silverstripe and so on. I myself have developed this blog using Drupal. Various companies like theonion, warner Bros, Nato are also using Drupal. The reason why I have used Drupal is because it is very search engine friendly when compared to joomla. Though the learning curve is very steep when compared to various other search engines like joomla and plone, it is worth the effort as Drupal is very powerful and you can customize it as per your choice. Each and every content management system has it's own defects and advantages. Choosing the best content management system is all upto your choice and requirements.
